Our Journey, our heart
Discover the foundation of OTR, born from lived experiences and a deep commitment to community. Learn about our mission to stabilize lives and foster independence for those who need it most.

Our story: born from lived experience
OTR was created from lived experience. We know what it feels like to be alone, unsupported, and trying to rebuild from nothing. This organization was built to be the space we wish we had—a place where you are seen, heard, and supported without judgment.
Mission statement: To stabilize lives, restore dignity, and create pathways to independence through community support, resources, and safe spaces.
Vision: A world where no one feels alone in their struggle—and everyone has access to the support they need to thrive.

Our guiding principles: compassion, authenticity, community
At Over the Rainbow (OTR), our work is guided by compassion, authenticity, and community. We believe that everyone deserves a safe space to be seen, heard, and supported—regardless of their past or current circumstances. We lead with empathy, not judgment, recognizing that many of the individuals we serve are navigating complex life transitions.
We are rooted in lived experience, which allows us to connect with our community in a real and meaningful way. We believe in meeting people where they are, walking alongside them in their journey, and empowering them to rebuild with dignity and confidence.

Our core values: the heart of our work
Our principles center around:
- Respect & inclusion – Everyone belongs here.
- Accountability & growth – We support change while encouraging responsibility.
- Community & connection – Healing happens together, not alone.
- Access & equity – Resources should be available to those who need them most.
These beliefs guide every program, interaction, and decision we make—ensuring that OTR remains a beacon of hope and support.
"from crisis to purpose: a story of transformation with otr"
One individual, newly released from incarceration and facing homelessness, found OTR during a time of profound disconnection. Navigating identity and without support, they were met not with judgment, but with a conversation.
We provided basic necessities like clothing and meals, but more importantly, consistent support and guidance. What began as a moment of crisis transformed into a journey toward stability. Now, they are actively working toward employment and reconnecting with a sense of purpose. This is the heart of OTR—meeting people where they are and walking with them until they thrive.
